Just thought I'd share some of the snaps that I took during my recent trip to the colorful city of Kuala Lumpur. What I like about KL is first of all, the food (duh). The food there is really traditional, authentic and no-frills fare. All the "restorans" there have several plastic chairs and wooden folding tables. Just grab a table and the efficient waiters will take your order. When I was there, I had Fried Hokkien Mee (which is oily chinese noodles fried with dark soya sauce), traditional Malaysian dim sum and many more traditional hawker food. Not only was the food good, it was really cheap as well! I really wanted to try this satay/steamboat concept, which was skewers of vegetables, meat or seafood that you get to grill or dip into a steamboat that is provided at each table. But too bad I didn't get to because I only had less than 3 days' worth of time in KL.

I enjoyed sightseeing around KL as well, for it is a city brimming with sights and sounds. It reminded a little bit of India, when all my senses were assaulted at once there. The colors in the beautiful art district, the raucous sounds of Chinatown, the neon lights of Jalan Alor the famous eating district and the smell of glorious food. There was also a pretty stark contrast between the different areas of KL. Around the Petronas Twin Towers, it was really modern and clean, surrounded with financial buildings and a large stretch of shopping malls that had all the high street brands that you can find in Singapore. Go further down and you can find shophouses and fully operational old train stations.

I didn't really enjoy the shopping at the shopping malls because it wasn't attractive. I suggest you to visit Bangsar Village area for better shopping at independent Malaysian multi-label boutiques and homegrown designer brands.
