Skin Ritual with Erno Laszlo

I recently got acquainted with Erno Laszlo, an American skincare and treatment brand. It's quite amazing to learn that Erno Laszlo, who was originally a Hungarian chemist, was the man who taught American society ladies how to wash their faces. Its A-list clientele includes Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Greta Garbo and also royalty such as the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, whom have remained loyal clients to the brand over the years.

Erno Laszlo believes that your skin can be trained to behave the way we want it to, same as how we train our bodies in the gym. And this takes consistent time and effort. I met with one of their head Skin Therapists, where I highlighted to her my concerns. I generally have an oily T-zone, with slightly dry cheeks. I currently hydrate my cheeks with Fresh's Seaberry Moisturizing Facial Oil, which works wonders, but my T-zone will still suffer from the occasional pimple, and a lot of oil clogs, or tiny comedones. I was also told that my eyes were too dry, and that I needed a more moisturizing eye cream.

And here's my skincare regimen as prescribed by my therapist, with slight variations in day and night.


A highlight of Erno Laszlo is its signature cleansing ritual, which makes use of a cleansing duo of a Pre-Cleansing Oil and a Cleansing Bar (soap). I've always shyed away from facial cleansing oils in the past as I hated the sticky, oily residue feeling that was left on my skin, but apparently oil will help to dissolve makeup and impurities better than average cleansers, for a deep cleansing experience. The deep sea black bar soap is used as Step 2 to create a lather to condition your skin and gently exfoliate for a more refined complexion. I find that using the bar soap also helps to wash away the oily residue since soap is generally alkaline. Say hi to a squeaky clean skin and hello to poreless skin!

Pictured here you can also see Step 2 and 3 of the skincare ritual - which is Erno Laszlo's Light Controlling Lotion (especially useful for oily T-zones), followed by the Phelityl Night Cream, which is a lightweight cream to nourish the skin and seal in all moisture as you sleep.

One product which I must absolutely rave about is the Luminous Dual Phase Vit C Peel. This two step product is used together to give a chemical peel effect. Step 1 acts as a mask with superfine crystals to gently exfoliate your skin and Step 2 is a chemical treatment with concentrated Vit C to brighten the skin and boost collagen renewal. I felt an immediate smoothness in my skin and it also looks brighter and more radiant.


Another product outside from your regular skincare routine I'd recommend is the Hydra-Therapy Skin Vitality Treatment, which is a 2-step mask to soothe, hydrate and plump the complexion. I would say this is especially useful for travel! The Vit C Peel and this one combined will give instant radiance to your skin, and make it feel more "bouncy" and glowy - bringing you one step closer to that coveted Korean dewy complexion!

I have yet to use Erno Laszlo for a long time, unlike some of its loyal celebrity customers, but I'm already a convert after seeing how my skin was brightened up and made softer after just one simple facial experience with their head Skin Therapist!
