Old Hollywood Glamour

After I saw Sasha Pivovarova's editorial in Vogue Paris June/July issue, I just fell in love with the styling and the mood in the colour and B&W photographs. Inez and Vinoodh are amazing photographers, they have such a strong body of work and in photographing portraits and personalities, I think they really bring out the soul of each of their subjects in the photographs.

Sasha is such a chameleon channeling a young Madonna in the 70s-80s.

It's been a while since I've so thoroughly enjoyed every single shot in an entire series of editorials. The styling here is really well done - it feels very natural and projects a story that draws the reader in. It is obvious that Sasha is going somewhere - and her boyfriend jeans and long trench coat combination makes that obvious. But the details such as the tightly knotted scarf around her neck, the polka dotted little luggage bag, blouses and head scarves, together with the numerous knotted bracelets and those retro polka dotted ballet flats and sandals paired with ribbed white socks...it all come together so well.

This look back to the swingin' seventies and golden age eighties has inspired me to delve deeper.

A polyvore set that I've made just for fun. I'm not good at making polyvore looks...but this is what I'd imagine someone to wear during that era, complete with siren red lipstick.
